A “coach” is what defines my primary role here at Chapel Hill. It’s not about me but about others; my primary focus is to help people become more like Jesus and better at what they do and how they serve others. The effectiveness of my ministry and achievements are revealed in other people’s performances; it is measured by the benefit it has on others.

Like a sports coach, the effectiveness of training is measured by the performance of the people, not on our own performance. We aren’t the people who win the prize or get our names on the cup.

That’s how Paul described himself in 2Corinthians 3:3 “…you … are … the result of our ministry.”
