Trying to describe a particular church is
not easy: how do you summarize the many personalities and backgrounds
of the people that comprise it?
But at Chapel Hill, there are values we all share. Top of the list is
a belief in and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible describes
him as the Author of life, and many at Chapel Hill have found Him to be
so. He is the reason for our community’s existence, the One who
dies to bring us into relationship with God.
Another value that defines us is our under standing that our church is
about people, not programmes, about relationships, not rituals. Everyone
is esteemed and has something to contribute to the good of all. Because
of this we work hard to provide opportunities for people to use their
talents and passions to serve others.
Chapel Hill is a family church. It exists not only for those who frequently
attend, but also for folk in the wider community. Our facilities and programmes
are intended to meet peoples’ needs and make a positive impact on
our growing community.
Chapel Hill is an Open Brethren church and is part of a
network of Open Brethren churches in New Zealand. Each Brethren church
is autonomous, yet we have strong, informal relationships with other Brethren
churches, particularly Hillcrest Chapel.
